| Abstract: | This work is part of a larger effort to visualize religious diversity in the Amazon, more specifically in the region of the lower-middle Amazon and Parintins. Here we cover fundamental aspects of Santo Daime, an Amazonian religion, and its process of constitution as religion, as well as its arrival and structuring in the city of Parintins. In this sense we present oral accounts of the first practitioners of the Daime in the locality and of the faithful and leaders of the Churches of Jesus Menino Menino and Céu de Nossa Senhora do Carmo. |
| Description: | Este trabalho se insere em um esforço maior para visualizar a diversidade religiosa na Amazônia, mais especificamente na região do médio-baixo Amazonas e em Parintins. Abordamos aqui aspectos fundamentais do Santo Daime, uma religião Amazônica, e seu processo de constituição como religião, bem como sua chegada e estruturação na cidade de Parintins. Nesse sentido apresentamos relatos orais dos primeiros praticantes do Daime no local e de fiéis e lideranças das Igrejas Céu do Jesus Menino e Céu de Nossa Senhora do Carmo. |
