Santo Daime: doutrina e história de uma religião Amazônica na cidade de Parintins

Abstract

This work is part of a larger effort to visualize religious diversity in the Amazon, more specifically in the region of the lower-middle Amazon and Parintins. Here we cover fundamental aspects of Santo Daime, an Amazonian religion, and its process of constitution as religion, as well as its arrival and structuring in the city of Parintins. In this sense we present oral accounts of the first practitioners of the Daime in the locality and of the faithful and leaders of the Churches of Jesus Menino Menino and Céu de Nossa Senhora do Carmo.
