Avaliação da arborização urbana do bairro Santa Luzia, Itacoatiara, Amazonas

Abstract

Due to the environmental benefits and consequent improvement in the quality of life of the population, urban tree-planting is an aspect of great importance in city planning. In this context, the present work aimed to quantify, identify and evaluate the quality of the trees in the Santa Luzia neighborhood in the municipality of Itacoatiara-AM. The municipality is located on the left bank of the Amazon River distancing 175 km straight from the city of Manaus. The choice of the studied neighborhood was made by exclusion of other neighborhoods where the urban afforestation inventory has already occurred and where most of the afforestation is concentrated. Data collection was done through a complete inventory through weekly visits in the previously delimited neighborhood by walking all the streets with the help of the physical map of the city. For the field collections, a form with information about each tree was elaborated. The identification of the species was carried out with the aid of specific literature. Through the diagnosis of the Arboreal Coverage Index, it was possible to evaluate the spaces that are occupied by the trees, making it possible to obtain a panorama about the condition of the afforestation of the neighborhood. 32 species were identified, distributed in 20 families with predominance of Licania tomentosa with 54% of the total of individuals. It was observed that the native species are predominant, with 63% in the Santa Luzia neighborhood. The fruits corresponded to 7% of the total tree species. Ninety percent of the subjects had their crowns in good condition. The stem, in 68% of the cases, was of the branched type. In the present study there was a predominance of arboreal individuals with 89% of the total. The subterranean root system has a predominance in 84% of the species, 16% have a superficial root system and exposed. The arrangement of the trees in relation to the electric network revealed that 49% have this network above their canopies, while 13% are between the canopies. Tree pruning proved to be well-conducted in 19% of cases, while the vast majority fit the regular situation. A percentage of 28% of trees showed absence of pruning, especially those with lower heights. The paving free area around the individuals was adequate in 43% of the cases. In general, the condition of the pavement did not present severe damages, only a small percentage of 8% showed damage, mostly caused by the roots of the trees, where they still interfered in 19% in the transition of pedestrians. The average DBH found was 74.8 cm, and height, 4.6 m, which shows that the afforestation of the neighborhood is old with well established individuals.
