A produção de resíduos sólidos durante o Festival Folclórico de Parintins no Amazonas: garrafas pets e latas de alumínio

Abstract

The Folklore Festival of Parintins is a spectacle that expresses the culture of the people of Parintin, through a dispute that emerged a century ago, through the Boes Garantido and Caprichoso. The methods used in this research were the deductive and the comparative, the latter used for comparisons of the garbage produced and the waste collected by the Association of Garbage Collectors of Parintins. As the Folk Festival has been winning through its sponsors in attracting the public, it has brought to the city an increasing number of visitors. This makes the Festival one of the main sources of income for the municipality. In the month of June with the realization of the Festival Folclórico, the amount of population increases, reaching more than 58 thousand visitors. This causes many economic benefits to the city, however, it also entails social harms and environmental damage, due to the large amount of consumption, generating garbage. In the period of the Festival Folkloric garbage generation reaches 88 tons per day, an increase of 23 tons more than the average of 65 tons. Therefore, this article discusses the production of solid waste, its classification in the period of the Festival.
