Irrupção ectópica de primeiro molar permanente inferior: relato de caso

Abstract

This paper will describe the management of ectopic firstpermanent mandibular molar, using interproximal stripping on the distal face of the second primary molar.Ectopic irruption is characterized by a deviation in the normal pattern of eruption of permanent teeth, has a multifactorial etiology and among its consequences are the retention of the first permanent molar on the distal face of the second primary molar. A range of treatment options are available to the clinician provided that diagnosis is made early. Non-treatment can result in premature exfoliation of the second primary molar, space loss and impaction of the second premolar.
