Plantas artificiais x plantas vivas: caracterização de cada uso pelos moradores de Tefé, AM

Abstract

Many people love to see the decorated house. Tefé city, which is localized within the state of Amazonas, is no exception to this rule. This study analyzes the profile of Tefé residents on the use of artificial plants and live ones, also taking into account possible behavioral differences between residents of two different areas of the city: central and peripheral. Sixty interviews were held in each region. The analysis was performed using two different approaches: the first examined the city's profile in relation to the use or non-use of artificial and natural plants and their motivations; and the second, compared the use of these plants distinctly for the central and peripheral area of the city. The results revealed a significant presence of live plants in homes of Tefé, totalizing 72% of residences although the artificial ones were found in only 30%. However, they have different uses by residents: artificial plants are used for ornamentation; and the use of live plants and have medicinal (48.8%) and food (61.6%) purposes. The comparison between the central and peripheral regions showed that both make equal use of artificial and live plants, and they used for the same purposes.
