Abstract

The environment theme is an important cross-cutting point in the elementary school curriculum. Thus, understanding the scope of environmental issues is important even for the exercise of citizenship. In this context, the objective of this work was to understand the conception of environment related to the knowledge of elementary school students in Tefé schools. The study was carried out in three schools, distributed at the Tefé municipality,through interviews with 135 students from the 6th and 8th grades. The students were found to be lacking in knowledge related to environmental issues, since they presented restricted vision, most of the students come the environment with a utilitarian perception, that is, people are not inserted in nature, but this Only provider of benefits to mankind. The students' view was limited only to questions of the physical school environment, most reported the presence of litter on the floor and scratched walls as environmental impacts caused by the school, so when asked how the school could reduce its environmental impacts, students responded by just cleaning The floor and walls of the school; Not extrapolating to a comprehensive view of the environmental problems that a school can cause.
