Educação e Ciência: as lições de Baíra

Abstract

A presentation of the results from the research about myths, with an analysis of the book Experiences and Stories of Baíra – the Great Faker (Experiências e Estórias de Baíra - o grande burlão), of the author Nunes Pereira, and its use for Natural Science teaching. I made use of the traditional knowledge found in this book‘s stories. Thus, the research aimed to know how it was possible to transmit the scientifical knowledge of the traditional knowledge found in the narratives of Baíra, aiming to the matter of teaching science in the classroom visited by students of primary school, as an effect for the optimization of the process of teaching and learning. The constant material of Nunes Pereira‘s book which sponsored the elaboration of the proposal for resources for teaching this subject was made under the bibliographical perspective and analysis of the mythological narratives, since they are considered a cultural product and, in this way, carriers of knowledge. Hence, the aims are related with the elaboration of a book analysis with the understood social representations, with argumentations about the myth contribution to the construction of the rational knowledge and the current view people have in the scientific field. Only then, it has been discussed about the didactical transposition from the Parintintins stories (tribe that originated the narratives about the hero Baíra), as well as the presuppositions that are the foundation of the proposal. Therefore, it has been proposed the application of this resource to be used by the teachers with their students, aiming to support the redirection of specific content of science, as well as other possibilities of development of an interdisciplinary class. It is hoped that the elaborated resource could be able to contribute to the process of teaching and learning of the students and that its importance of other knowledge could be noticed for the further advance of the science education in the Amazonas State.
