Levantamento dos Sítios arqueológicos com Arte Rupestre da tradição Amazônica no município de Manaus - AM

Abstract

The Rock Art of the Amazonian Tradition is little researched in our state, the Amazon. Although there is much archaeological research being carried out in the state of Amazonas, such research prioritizes the so-called archeological sites that abound in all parts of the immense Amazon valley. Just over two decades ago, research on ceramic sites has intensified, causing an exodus of researchers to the state of Amazonas that undoubtedly contributed to new research bringing satisfactory results with regard to information on the subject in our region. On the other hand the Rock Art for some reason was left behind which caused the loss of much important information on the subject in our region. Not even reliable and systematized information exists to direct or arouse the interest of new researchers when it comes to Amazonas. Our objective is to carry out a survey that identifies the location of these archaeological sites with Rock Art only in the perimeter of the municipality of Manaus capital of the state of Amazonas, which at the moment reveals the identification of two archaeological sites New Tribes I and New Tribes II. Scheduled visits to the sites, photographs of the same and of the petroglyphs found in both sites, location, filling in the specific form of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN). We propose a brief discussion about the Brazilian Legislation on the theme Rock Art and Archaeological Heritage assessing if the responsible institutions comply with what is foreseen in the Brazilian Federal Constitution and specific Legislation.
