Prevalência parasitaria em jaraqui(semaprochilodus insignis) provenientes do mercado municipal de Tefé-Amazonas

Abstract

The fish is classified as fish and is intended for human consumption. It stands out from other foods due to its nutritional values. Fish are unloaded in the city of Tefé-Am throughout the year. During the flood period, the thick-scaled jaraqui (Semaprochilodus insignis) is abundantly distributed throughout the Amazon River basin and its tributaries, becoming a target for commercial fishing in the municipality. Due to its relevance, the occurrence of parasites is of great importance, as from these studies it is possible to prevent diseases. This work aimed to understand the parasitofauna in the host Semaprochilodus insignis from the Tefé-Am municipal market and identify whether there were new occurrences of species that use this fish as an intermediate, paratenic or definitive host. 30 specimens of coarse scale jaraqui were examined and the parasites found in these fish were the copepods Ergasilus jaraquensis in the gills and nematodes of the Cysticoloides superfamily in the intestine and swim bladder. Therefore, from this work new occurrences of parasites for S. Insignis were verified in the middle Solimões region, in addition to the need for long- term studies to better understand the distribution of its parasitofauna.
