| Resumo: | A Amazônia sempre foi alvo de interesses em especial por conta da sua vasta biodiversidade. Este interesse se intensificou mais a partir do século intensificando cada vez mais a partir do século XIX, quando as expedições cientificas começaram a singrar pelos rios da nossa região com os grandes homens da ciência, os Naturalistas. É inegável o papel dos viajantes para a salvaguarda de registros que servem de base para pesquisas das mais diversas naturezas. Durante muitos anos esses apontamentos fossem eles textuais e ou visuais, eram as únicas fontes para que pudéssemos compreender nossa história enquanto povo, mesmo que em sua maioria estes escritos e ou imagens representassem apenas o olhar do colonizador e sua visão idealizada sobre o continente recém-descoberto. Diante deste contexto, esta investigação objetivou apresentar através dos escritos do naturalista Henry Bates a sua visão sobre a cidade de Tefé século XIX a então Vila de Ega. Trata-se de um estudo bibliográfico com abordagem qualitativa. Quanto aos resultados afirma-se que esta pesquisa ressalta a importância dos escritos de Bates, contribuindo com a construção do processo histórico do município o que permitirá a comunidade tefeense tomar conhecimento de sua história. |
| Abstract: | The Amazon has always been the target of interests because of its vast biodiversity. This interest intensified more from the century intensifying more and more from the nineteenth century, when scientific expeditions began to singrar by the rivers of our region with the great men of science, the Naturalists. It is undeniable the role of travelers in safeguarding records that serve as the basis for research of various natures. For many years these notes were textual and or visual, were the only sources for us to understand our history as a people, even if mostly these writings and or images represented only the gaze of the colonizer and his idealized view of the newly discovered continent. In this context, this research aimed to present through the writings of the naturalist Henry Bates his vision of the city of Tefé nineteenth century the then Village of Ega. This is a bibliographic study with a qualitative approach. As for the results, it is stated that this research emphasizes the importance of Bates' writings, contributing to the construction of the historical process of the municipality, which will allow the Tephean community to become aware of its history |
