Resumo: A presente monografia buscar realizar um diálogo entre história e literatura com o objetivo de discutir a forma como os personagens amazônicos são tratados na obra “A Selva”, de autoria do português Ferreira de Castro. O trabalho se justifica tanto no cenário acadêmico quanto no social. Primeiro no sentido intelectual: ele é importante porque lança luz sobre um tema que há tempos é motivo de debate: o encontro entre história e literatura. Uma discussão que pode nos apresentar importantes frutos para o estudo do homem no tempo. O segundo é o social: aqui ele encontra importância uma vez que ambas as áreas estudas fazem parte do dia-a-dia das pessoas, ainda mais quando é um tema que aborda um período tão marcante da amazônia, que é período da borracha. O trabalho divide-se em dois capítulos. Optamos como metodologia a revisão bibliográfica e analise do livro “A Selva”. O primeiro se importa em apresentar uma discussão sobre o que é narrativa histórica, narrativa literária e o conceito de representação. A segunda parte vai abordar o conceito de povos tradicionais, assim como a visibilidade deste grupo. Discorrerá ainda a respeito do contexto em que a obra alvo desta pesquisa foi escrita. Por fim, será analisado como os personagens são representados no livro estudado.
Abstract: This monograph seeks to conduct a dialogue between history and literature with the objective of discussing the way the Amazonian characters are treated in the work "The Jungle", authored by the Portuguese Ferreira de Castro. The work is justified both in the academic and social scenarios. First in the intellectual sense: it's important because it sheds light on a theme that has long been the cause of debate: the meeting between history and literature. A discussion that can present us with important fruits for the study of man in time. The second is the social: here it finds importance a since both areas of study are part of people's day-to-day lives, especially when it is a theme that addresses such a remarkable period of the Amazon, which is rubber period. The work divided into two chapters. We chose as methodology the bibliographic review and analysis of the book "The Jungle." The first one cares to present a discussion about what is historical narrative, literary narrative and the concept of representation. The second part will address the concept of peoples as well as the visibility of this group. It will also discuss the context in which the target work of this research was written. Finally, it will be analyzed how the characters are represented in the book studied.
