A ciência aberta e seus impactos na Região Norte do Brasil

Abstract

This eBook titled Open Science and its Impacts on the Northern Brazil, which brings together the works of 42 authors, presents us the multiplicity of actions developed for the organization and dissemination of scientific information open access and, now at a new level, the management of research data. By following the initiatives of the Open Access movement to Scientific Information in the world, the Brazilian Institute of Information Science and Technology (Ibict) has made efforts to disseminate the Via Verde strategy, ie the creation of institutional repositories in universities and research institutes in all regions of Brazil. In order for this dissemination to be carried out efficiently and with In order to act in a coordinated manner, Ibict created the Brazilian Network of Institutional Repositories of Open Access Scientific Publications (RIAA). The first subnet to emerge was the Northern Network of Institutional Repositories, created from the discussions that took place at the 1st Meeting of Institutional Repositories da Norte Region, event promoted in 2014 by the Central Library of the University Federal of Pará (UFPA). The Northern Network of Institutional Repositories was launched. officially in 2016, as an action resulting from the purposes that constituted the Charter of Belém, a document that covenants the creation of a regional repository to increase the visibility of the scientific production of the Brazilian Amazon. Norte / RIAA reflects the institutions' commitment to development capable of meeting the needs of the present generation, without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations in line with the principles of Open Science. Today coordinated by the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), North / RIAA decided to launch this work, in e-book format, aiming to stimulate greater engagement of the institutions of the northern region and help in the constitution of their memory. The work also aims to address issues related to the implementation of open access digital repositories, as well as to report the process of Northern Network of Institutional Repositories (Norte / RIAA), in order to reflect on the importance and impact of actions to insert technical production, of this environment in the international context. And it goes beyond, because presents reflections related to a larger scope, which is Open Science. This ebook is composed of two guiding axes, namely: a) Connecting elements of Open Science - the chapters brought together on this axis present theoretical elements that aim to offer subsidies for the main theme of the work. b) Overview of the implementation of the Digital Repositories - the chapters gathered in this axis discuss the work done to promote the implementation of the repositories by the institutions that make up the northern region of Brazil. There is no doubt that this work is of great value to researchers and managers integrated to the world of Open Science in Brazil. It is clear here, too, that We have many challenges to overcome, but fortunate we are to see how far we have come.
