Educar para o respeito às diferenças: questão indígena na sala de aula no município de Parintins.

Abstract

This work shows the results and discussions of the research entitled "Educating for Respect for Differences: Indigenous Issues in the Classroom in the Municipality of Parintins". The purpose of this study was to analyze the textbook of History of 3rd year of Elementary Education I, demonstrating the textbooks and support books show the indigenous reality, its struggles, manifestations and cultures, and to perceive through questionnaires the teachers' view of the subject, as well as the books adopted. The methodologies adopted were the dialectical approach, qualitative research, having as a method the field research. For the construction of this work it was supported by studies carried out by authors such as, Cunha (1992), Freitas (2010), Grupioni (1995), Hall (2006), Lander (2005), Paiva Todorov (1999) and other authors who discuss this subject. Through the analysis we conclude that some books do not fit very much the current discussions about the indigenous peoples, they bring back conceptions and / or it does not include the indigenous one as part of the cultural identity of the country, whereas others stand out when they bring discussions and ideas that respect history , the culture, rights and struggles of these peoples. The analysis of the questionnaires led to the conclusion that the teachers believe that this theme is of paramount importance for the construction of a tolerant society that respects the differences, showing concern about the fight against racism and discrimination, and that through these discussions in the classroom they see a way of contributing to combat these problems in society. Most teachers understand that the textbook did not help in this discussion, so one must pay attention to these criticisms, since it is they who are daily with their students, perceiving their needs and their problems. We believe that this monograph will encourage for a different look at the textbook of History and that we need to adapt the textbooks so that they help to reflect the indigenous question in the current moment.
